# Read the rule and find the right board

When a claim matters to your decision, keep the words of the claim and the document being used to support it together. Look for the exact product, person or service involved. Then check the date and whether the document says what the headline suggests.

Personal care questions go to the person responsible for your assessment and treatment, called the clinician. A question about a board record can go to the board that keeps it. A disagreement about a sales claim may need a different route.

☐

## Read the date and the kind of document

An enacted rule, a proposed policy and a regulator’s letter have different purposes. Read enough of the document to know which you are holding. When an effective date is in the future, keep it next to the claim instead of folding it into a statement about the current position.

The [October 30, 2026 peptide policy notice from HHS, the federal health department, calls the policy draft and nonbinding](https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2026-10-30/html/2026-22192.htm) . It does not give any drug an approval from FDA, the federal drug regulator.

[FDA’s July committee meeting materials](https://www.fda.gov/advisory-committees/advisory-committee-calendar/july-23-24-2026-meeting-pharmacy-compounding-advisory-committee-07232026) and [HHS’s later account](https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/hhs-503a-peptide-enforcement-discretion-policy-appendix-b.pdf) are also different records: HHS reports favorable votes for six peptides, while the meeting page still lacks minutes or a transcript as of November 3, 2026.

That difference is a reason to use the newer account carefully, without turning an advisory vote into an ingredient-list change.

## Read a license result for what it shows

A [public record of license status and discipline does not grade the care](https://www.fsmb.org/u.s.-medical-regulatory-trends-and-actions/guide-to-medical-regulation-in-the-united-states/information-for-consumers/) a person provides.

The [Board of Healing Arts warns that general searches may trail very recent actions](https://www.ksbha.ks.gov/resources/search-for-a-licensee) , so its own Board Actions listing matters for those updates.

Keep the full name, role and record together. If something is unclear, ask the board about the entry rather than guessing from a label. A record is a useful part of checking a proposal. It is still worth asking the clinician what the actual assessment and follow-up would involve.

☐

## Take a conduct concern to the relevant board

For a doctor or physician assistant, the [Kansas Board of Healing Arts accepts complaints](https://www.ksbha.ks.gov/departments/disciplinary-investigations/complaint-faqs) from people with knowledge of the concern, including someone other than the patient.

For nursing practice, including a nurse practitioner, the [Board of Nursing directs public complaints to its complaint form](https://ksbn.kansas.gov/how-to-file-a-complaint/) .

For a pharmacy or pharmacist, use the [Board of Pharmacy complaint route](https://www.pharmacy.ks.gov/forms-faqs/complaints) ; it accepts anonymous complaints and publishes final discipline.

Keep a plain account of what happened, with the records that bear on it. Separate what you saw or received from what remains uncertain. If you are unsure which board handles the person’s role, use the license desk to identify the record first.

☐

## Keep a sales concern and a medicine report distinct

The [Kansas Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division handles complaints about scams and misleading sales](https://www.ag.ks.gov/divisions/public-protection/consumer-protection) ; it does not provide private legal advice.

A problem involving a medical product can also be reported through [FDA MedWatch](https://www.fda.gov/safety/medwatch-fda-safety-information-and-adverse-event-reporting-program) , which accepts reports from patients and consumers.

Save the offer, the receipt or other billing record, the product details and relevant replies. Describe the outcome you are asking about without filling gaps with assumptions. A board complaint, a consumer complaint and a medicine report ask different bodies to review different issues. Choose the route that matches the concern, and keep a copy of what you submit.
